The practice in was founded 2020 by myself, Paul McCaughran, after being employed by various architectural practices in Belfast, London and California.
During my time in private practice as a chartered architect over the past sixteen years, I have been involved in multi-million-pound projects all over the UK and Ireland ranging from housing developments to large scale industrial, flagship retail and aviation projects.
As well as being a chartered architect in the UK and member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), I have become a member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Ireland (RIAI) this year which enables me able to be recognised and operate throughout the UK and Ireland as a qualified professional.
I am ambitious in my service to my clients, striving for quality and durability in built form, using simple but beautiful materials whilst being socially and environmentally responsible.
The practice seeks to provide quality buildings that reflect the needs of the user in a contemporary and creative way by engaging with the client and the project environment throughout the design process, through constructive dialogue.
The approach is hands-on by engaging with the client, visiting the site and carrying out research into the surrounding context, exploring materiality and responses to context by providing virtual models that the client can interact with. The design solutions which emerge are both functional and aesthetic, and seek to improve on existing conditions.
Good buildings are the result of carefully considered design. The belief is that each project, regardless of size and complexity, is truly unique and deserves an individual response to its site and context.
In addition to the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM), various methods are adopted in the exploration of design ideas; this is influenced by the individual project.
